The Virginia Governmental Employees Association (VGEA) is actively advocating for significant amendments to the proposed state budget during the 2024 Virginia General Assembly session, focusing on enhancing compensation for Virginia state and state-supported local employees. Our goal is to ensure that our members are recognized and rewarded fairly for their dedication and service.

Current Proposed Budget vs. VGEA’s Amendments

The State’s Proposal:

• 1% Bonus (Effective 12/1/24, FY25): Totaling $55.2 million
• 1% Raise (Effective 6/10/24, FY26): Totaling $58.8 million
• 1% Bonus (Effective 12/1/25, FY26): Totaling $58.8 million

VGEA’s Proposed Amendments:

• 4% Raise (Effective 7/1/24, FY25): Totaling $220.8 million
• 1% Bonus (Effective 12/1/24, FY25): Totaling $55.12 million
• 4% Raise (Effective 6/10/25, FY26): Totaling $229.6 million
• 1% Bonus (Effective 12/1/25, FY26): Totaling $59.1 million
