Governor’s Budget Update: What State Employees & Retirees Need to Know

The Governor has released his proposed budget for FY2026–2028, and it includes potential pay increases and a one‑time bonus for state employees.

The VGEA has completed a detailed review of the Governor’s proposal, including:

  • What compensation increases are being proposed
  • What the budget means for retirees
  • What could still change as the General Assembly takes over
  • Where state employees and retirees can make their voices heard

This kind of clear, nonpartisan analysis is one of the benefits of VGEA membership. Our members don’t have to sort through headlines or guess what matters; we do the homework and deliver the facts.
