VGEA Political Action Committee (GEPAC)

“Money is the mother’s milk of politics” and the VGEA recognizes this truism. It does not buy votes but it does improve access. The VGEA recognized this in 2005 when it formed the VGEA Political Action Committee (GEPAC) for the purpose of making financial contributions to political candidates seeking office in the General Assembly or the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.

Each year the VGEA Board of Directors approves a total amount of funds to be spent through GEPAC. These funds are then distributed to candidates at fundraising events throughout the year.  GEPAC is non-partisan and its targeted legislative contributions are made based on incumbency (GEPAC only contributes to incumbents), leadership role within the body (House, Senate) Committee importance (with the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees considered most important), subcommittee assignment (certain subcommittees handle all matters related to State employee and retiree issues) and finally, seniority. Contributions to candidates for statewide office are made equitably.

A complete record of GEPAC contributions can be found at the website:
